Exciting news from Central Elementary Quest 4th and 5th graders! Today, we proudly celebrated the ribbon cutting and unveiling of the Hammock Garden, a fantastic legacy project created by our talented Quest 5th grade students! This unique space is designed for learning and fun, featuring signs with QR codes that allow our emerging readers to enjoy books read aloud to them. In a wonderful display of mentorship, our amazing 4th and 5th grade Quest students read to their 1st grade friends while lounging in the hammocks. This outdoor classroom experience is all about making learning enjoyable and engaging! Thank you to everyone who contributed to this project. Here's to many more joyful learning moments in our Hammock Garden!

28th Street Elementary's 5th grade enjoyed being coastal tourists for their end of year field trip! They participated in The ultimate Hwy 90 Coastal Scavenger Hunt. Students kept their eyes glued to the window looking for some famous coastal landmarks. They found: a white sandy beach, shrimp boats, The Biloxi Lighthouse, the Beauvior, the crooked Feather, a giant shark mouth, the ship island ferry, and a hurricane Katrina memorial. They also got a pleasant surprise and were able to cheer on some Jeeping the Coast riders! This year, students worked on coastal erosions and were able to locate barriers that help keep our MS coastline safe and secure from hurricanes. To say we have a deeper appreciation for our wonderful MS Gulf Coast is an understatement!

The Impact Mentor Program has created meaningful connections all year long across the Gulfport School District. 💙

Throughout the year, seniors from Gulfport High School have spent time mentoring younger students through reading, projects, games, homework help, and encouragement.

Many of our seniors shared that while they hoped to make an impact on the younger students, the experience ended up impacting them even more. Watching these Admirals step into leadership roles, become mentors, and form genuine bonds with students who truly look up to them has been incredible to see. ⚓✨
