A Gulfport High School student was named second runner-up for the 2026 Top ALL-STAR Scholar award at the Mississippi Business Alliance Foundation’s (MSBA) 61st Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) Student and Teacher Celebration at the Clyde Muse Center in Pearl. William “Crosby” P. of Gulfport High School was the second runner-up and received a $16,000 scholarship. Each STAR Student designated a STAR Teacher who made the greatest contribution to their scholastic achievement. Teachers selected by the top three students received a $1,500 award.

Parker chose Ellen Buntyn, a National Board-certified teacher with 14 years’ experience, as his STAR Teacher.

Excellence in Science: Student Researchers Honored at Gulf Science Showcase
We are thrilled to announce that BVMS Hannah M. and Madelyn S. were named winners at this past Saturday's Gulf Science Showcase! Their award-winning research project, "Brickyard Pollution," took a deep dive into the environmental health of our community. By highlighting the specific pollution challenges facing our local waterways, Hannah and Madelyn provided vital insights into the conservation needs of our ecosystem. In recognition of their hard work, scientific rigor, and impactful findings, both students were awarded a $100 prize.

The Erich Grabowski Dedication at the GHS Tennis Courts will be held Saturday, April 18 at 10 a.m., honoring a legacy of leadership, commitment, and excellence. The community is invited to join in celebrating Coach Grabowski’s lasting impact on Gulfport School District and its student-athletes.

Fifth-grade science class at Bayou View Elementary got a little messy - in the BEST way! 🌊🛢️ After learning about natural vs. man-made disasters, students created their own version of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and put our scientific skills to the test! Students had a blast experimenting with different materials to see which could clean up the oil the best!

This week, we celebrate the heart of our schools—our incredible Assistant Principals! 💙

Our talented Quest students from all the elementary schools and both middle schools showcased the incredible projects they've been working on throughout the year. From the robotics team giving driving lessons in preparation for the world competition at the end of April, to underwater robotics, LEGO STEAM, community projects, Macey Day balloon creations, chess tournments, fingerprint exploration, and steps to publishing - the creativity and hard work on display were truly inspiring! We were thrilled to have our Gifted Advocacy Board Members, principals, central office staff, parents, and community members join us to celebrate our students' achievements. A huge thank you to everyone who made this event possible! Your support makes a difference! 💙✨

Calling all seniors and parents! 🎓🍩 It’s time to celebrate the next big step! Join us for Donut Decision Day on Friday, May 1st, at 8:30 AM in the Bert Jenkins Gym. Whether they are heading to college, joining the military, or entering the workforce, we want to see our seniors repping their future! Students and parents are encouraged to wear a T-shirt showcasing their chosen college, military branch, or business/industry.

We’ll have college representatives and military recruiters on-site to help mark the occasion. Let’s sweeten the start of their next chapter—see you there!
