Ingalls Shipbuilding has been a key partner in the success of BVMS’s Pathways program. Through their generous support, students have access to innovative technology that enhances hands-on STEM learning experiences. Most recently, this funding allowed Pathways students to utilize Piper Make Widgets, giving them the opportunity to design, wire, and program circuits while building real-world skills.

"I 'eye' can't believe it!" 👀✨ Pass Road Elementary 4th graders turned lenses & light into working eye models to see how pupils and retinas team up — and what causes near‑ vs far‑sightedness. The classroom was full of wide eyes, big smiles, and real 'aha' moments! 🔬💡

Central Elementary School Spring Intersession

Bayou View Middle School students have been making the most of an unforgettable week in Washington, D.C.!

This incredible trip has truly brought their 7th-grade U.S. History lessons to life. Throughout the week, especially on Thursday, students experienced several “aha” moments as they connected what they’ve learned in the classroom to real-world history right before their eyes.

A highlight of the trip was time spent on Capitol Hill, where students toured the U.S. Capitol and had the opportunity to meet with Mississippi Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith. They shared insights about their work, their commitment to Mississippi, and how their efforts directly impact communities like Gulfport.

One especially meaningful moment came when a member of Senator Wicker’s staff asked where the group was from. When students shared they were from Bayou View Middle School, she lit up—proudly sharing she was once a student there and a graduate of Gulfport High School! Haley Warren (Class of 2021) reminded everyone of the lasting impact of the Gulfport School District and the strong connections that come full circle.

Experiences like this inspire our students to see the possibilities ahead and understand the role they can play in shaping the future.

Have you ever seen teamwork this sweet? Pass Road Elementary's 5th graders paired up with their kindergarten buddies to practice matching pictures to beginning letter sounds. It was wonderful to watch older students lead with patience and younger students beam with pride as they recognized letters and sounds. 💬📚✨
