Employees were recognized for every five-year milestone reached in the district, honoring their dedication and service to our students, schools, and community. The afternoon was filled with smiles, laughter, special memories, and plenty of hugs to go around.

Fifth graders from our elementary schools toured Bayou View Middle School today as they prepare for the next step in their educational journey. Students explored campus, met staff, and got a firsthand look at middle school life ahead of the new school year in July! 💙🧡

Free summer meals are returning! ☀️🍎 Beginning Monday, June 8, through July 17, the Gulfport School District Child Nutrition Department will provide free breakfast and lunch for children 18 and under, and 21 and younger if disabled, at select school locations across the district. No registration is required, and adult lunches will be available for $3.75. For more information, visit gulfportschools.org. Celebrate a morning of outstanding student musicians on Friday, May 9, at 11:00 a.m., featuring performances from the GHS, GCMS, and BVMS bands. 🎶

The day begins with Senior Signing Day at 9:00 a.m. in the GHS Band Hall as we honor our graduating musicians. 🎓

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 5–18, and free for district employees with ID.

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, and we’re proud to celebrate the incredible educators across the Gulfport School District. Their dedication, passion, and commitment make a lasting impact on our students and schools every day. For over a decade, this continued designation has reflected Gulfport’s commitment to fresh ideas in teaching and learning—focused on engaging students and preparing them for what’s ahead.

Sparklight has awarded a $2,500 STEM grant to Bayou View Middle School through its “Dream Bigger” campaign. The funds will be used to purchase an Innovation Kit with motors, gears, sensors, and other tools that allow students to design, build, and test real-world solutions.

Excellence in Science: Student Researchers Honored at Gulf Science Showcase
We are thrilled to announce that BVMS Hannah M. and Madelyn S. were named winners at this past Saturday's Gulf Science Showcase! Their award-winning research project, "Brickyard Pollution," took a deep dive into the environmental health of our community. By highlighting the specific pollution challenges facing our local waterways, Hannah and Madelyn provided vital insights into the conservation needs of our ecosystem. In recognition of their hard work, scientific rigor, and impactful findings, both students were awarded a $100 prize.

Our talented Quest students from all the elementary schools and both middle schools showcased the incredible projects they've been working on throughout the year. From the robotics team giving driving lessons in preparation for the world competition at the end of April, to underwater robotics, LEGO STEAM, community projects, Macey Day balloon creations, chess tournments, fingerprint exploration, and steps to publishing - the creativity and hard work on display were truly inspiring! We were thrilled to have our Gifted Advocacy Board Members, principals, central office staff, parents, and community members join us to celebrate our students' achievements. A huge thank you to everyone who made this event possible! Your support makes a difference! 💙✨
