Gulfport School District Seal of Biliteracy
"To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world."
– Chinese Proverb
The Gulfport School District drafted the 2018-2023 Strategic Plan to include goals and action items around providing students with greater opportunities and supports initiatives around diversity and inclusion. In December 2019, the Gulfport School District School Board approved the adoption of the Seal of Biliteracy. In March 2020, School and District Leadership supported the adoption of Elementary Spanish being offered across the elementary schools as a 6 week module to begin exposing our children to a world language. Students are able to begin taking Spanish in 6th grade. We offer Chinese as well as Advanced Placement French and Spanish at the high school. In the 2021-2022 Academic School year, we welcomed our first cohort of recipients.
