Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Ellen Buntyn

My name is Ellen Buntyn.  I am originally from the New Orleans area and graduated from LSU with a degree in Animal Science. I attended Belhaven College in Jackson for graduate school where I earned an MBA. I am currently attending Johns Hopkins University and pursuing a Masters in Individualized Genomics.

Before becoming a classroom teacher, I worked as an educator at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science and as the Curator of Education at the Baton Rouge Zoo. I also worked as a research associate for a polymer scientist at the University of Mississippi Dental School.

I love sharing my knowledge of science with my students.  I believe that knowledge of science can benefit everyone and my goal is to connect the sciences I teach with the things that we experience in everyday life.  I believe it is my job to make what I teach relevant to all of my students.

"You are capable of more than you know. Choose a goal that seems right for you and strive to be the best, however hard the path. Aim high. Behave honorably. Prepare to be alone at times, and to endure failure. Persist! The world needs all you can give." - E.O. Wilson
