Mrs. Jessica Hisaw
Hi! My name is Mrs. Hisaw, and I am so excited to be teaching fourth grade reading, writing, and social studies this year at Bayou View Elementary!
I graduated from USM with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education K-12 with endorsements in reading and science. I earned my National Board Teaching Certification in 2018 and am currently working toward obtaining my master's degree. This will be my tenth year teaching and will be my second year teaching fourth grade. I taught third grade for eight years prior to teaching fourth, and this is my absolute favorite age to teach! I can't wait to share my passion for reading and writing with every student and am looking forward to getting to know each one of them individually.
I believe that it's so important for myself, the students, and their parents to maintain a strong and positive relationship. It's all about communication and teamwork! I have the highest expectations for all of my students, as well as their parents. Working together, we are better able to assist students in creating a better and more positive attitude towards school and learning!
My goal for the students every year is for them to understand "why." Why am I learning this? Why is reading and writing important? I hope to teach and instill in each of them the importance of understanding why learning to think, speak, and write is so important. Our kids need to know that thinking makes you act effectively in the world. My goal is for every student to leave my classroom each day feeling loved, challenged, and that they are able to succeed.
I know we have an amazing year ahead of us, and I am so excited to meet my new classroom family!
