Degrees and Certifications:
Coach Perry Wilson
Hello, I am Coach Perry Wilson. I was born and raised in Gulfport, Mississippi where I currently live. I have been married for 19 years, and have two children. I am in my 17th year as a physical education teacher and baseball coach. This year marks my 10th year in the Gulfport School District. I currently teach k-5 physical education at Anniston Avenue Elementary, and serve as an assistant coach for our high school baseball team. I graduated with honors from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education in 2006. Before coming home to Gulfport to teach and coach, I coached in the Pass Christian School District in Pass Christian, Mississippi. I spent seven years at Pass Christian and taught k-5 physical education and was the head baseball coach for my last two years there. I chose to teach and coach because I wanted to give kids the positive experience that I had growing up with sports. Some of the best friends and memories that I have came from my time playing high school sports and participating in athletics in general. In my seventeen years of teaching and coaching I have tried to give kids an experience that they will cherish for a lifetime.
My physical education classroom is a very structured environment. Students walk in the door quietly and take a seat on their assigned number on the gym floor. After going through the roster, we then perform various exercises and dances for our warm up. We then play whatever activity is scheduled for the week. Lesson plans change every two weeks. K-2 students usually have a different lesson plan than 3-5 students. Our children love coming to p.e. class each week and that is one of the things I am proud of. As mentioned earlier, the reason I got into teaching and coaching was to give kids the positive experience that I had as a child. In my last twelve years I can honestly say that I feel like I have done that on the field and in the classroom.
