Mrs. Angela August, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Angela August has been an educator for over 26 years, 20 of which have been in the Gulfport School District. She began her teaching career in Gulfport educating students at Twenty-Eighth Street Elementary School and continues to serve currently as an administrator at The Learning Center. She graduated from the University of South Alabama and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She continued to futher her teaching career and achieved a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and a Specialist's Degree in Education from William Carey University. Mrs. August is National Board Certified in Early Childhood Education, She has been awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching Program. This award is the nation's highest honor for teachers of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. She was selected as Teacher of the Year for Twenty-Eighth Street Elementary as well as Teacher of the Year for the Gulfport School District.
Mrs. August's believes that all children are capable of learning but may learn at different rates. It takes the child, parent, teachers, community members and other educational staff to work together to help the child reach his/her fullest potential.
