Ms. Tomlinson

I have always been interested in children with specials needs even as early as elementary school days. I read a biography of Helen Keller during that time which completely captivated my mind and heart. I read it so many times, I can still remember what the cover looked like even down to it`s color. I come from a family of teachers with 5 out of my 6 siblings being teachers with advanced degrees as well. Our mother was always our inspiration who taught English Literature at Gulfport High School in the 1930`s and instilled the love of learning in all her children.

I have a Master`s Degree in Special Education from Boston College. My first teaching job after graduate school was at the Perkin`s School for the Blind in Watertown, MA. where I  taught students who were deaf and blind.  This is the school where Helen Keller`s teacher, Annie Sullivan, was trained. Needless to say, this was a dream come true to work at the school that was connected to Helen Keller`s education!

I have been teaching all kinds of students with special needs for 28 years and I continue to feel the gift of working with such special children as a gift that keeps on giving.
