BA in Elementary and Special Education

Mrs. Alicia Thompson

Teaching is my purpose. It is my passion.  After graduating with my Bachelors of Art in Elementary and Special Education from Nicholls State University, I began my first year of teaching in Thibodaux, LA.  Wanting new adventures, I moved to Gulfport, MS and continued to expand my teaching horizons among various grade level experiences.  This year I will begin my 21st year of teaching and am so excited to be at Twenty-Eighth Street Elementary as a first grade teacher.  Watching students grow, learn, and reach their goals throughout the year inspires me to be a better teacher.  I thrive on encouraging my students to do their best and setting high expectations under any circumstances or abilities.  Being able to work alongside people who share in my same passions motivates me to love what I do.  I am determined and diligent and expect nothing less from my students.

Outside of my classroom, I enjoy spending time with my husband, my daughter, and my son.  I also love crafting, painting and drawing, and reading anything to expand my depth of knowledge and personal growth.
