Ms. Henshaw
Welcome to US history! I am very excited to work with you this school year.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with an emphsis in social sciences. My first teaching position was in Carroll County, Mississippi. While there, I taught geography, world history, US history and economics. I also served on the Mississippi Department of Education committee for the first Subject Area Test for US history. After working in the Delta, I transferred to Long Beach Middle School where I taught 7th grade world history and 8th grade US history. I was fortunate to be a part of the district's Strategic Planning Committee and Curriculum Alignment Committee.
In 2001, I transferred to Gulfport High School to teach Advanced Placement history. I also completed my Master of Education degree with an emphsis in secondary education, as well as administration. While at Gulfport High, I served as the SACS committee chairperson and the curriculum specilaist for social science and English. My time at Gulfport was filled with laughter, achievement and high expectations. Eventually, I moved to a curriculum specialist position at central office working with most teachers in our district who taught social studies and foreign language.
After serving as a curriculum coordinator for Morgan County Schools in Alabama, I returned to Gulfport High School where I am currently teaching Advanced Placement US history.
