The Learning Center is designed to optimize your child's full potential both academically and socially. Students at The Learning Center are required to meet certain criteria before being considered to return to their respective Gulfport School District home schools.
Students that are at The Learning Center due to behavior have an initial placement of 45 school days (does not include weekends or holidays as designated in the Gulfport School District calendar). These students are required to earn a set number of incentive points within this time period.
Students that are at The Learning Center as part of the Gulfport School District Safety Net Program for academics must meet certain criteria before being considered to return to their Gulfport School District home schools. Sixth and seventh grade alternative education students assigned to The Learning Center have an initial placement of one nine-week grading period. Eighth grade alternative academic students assigned to The Learning Center will have an initial placement of one school year unless there is a change of placement to The Blue School. Academic alternative school students must maintain an overall GPA of 2.4 AND earn the set amount of incentive points.
Remember that students attending The Learning Center for academic or behavior purposes are not allowed to attend any extracurricular activities on any Gulfport School District campus during their placement at The Learning Center.
