Hello! Welcome back to a new school year. Music is a wonderful creative outlet for many of our students. Additionally, music lessons and instruction have been shown to improve children's academic skills!
Music has been one of my passions from a very early age. I grew up in a musical family. My mom was my first piano teacher. My father played the trumpet. I grew up singing and performing in churches with my parents and siblings and participating in high school choirs.
I have a B.A. in music with a concentration in piano education from William Jennings Bryan College in Dayton, TN and a Master of Education from William Carey University. During college, I received district and local winner placements for various National Piano Playing Auditions, including 5th place in the TN piano competition (TMTA).
Following college, I taught piano lessons to children and adults for seven years. During this time, I also pursued a separate career in marketing/public relations. After almost ten years in marketing, I decided it was time to return to my love of music education and obtained a teaching certificate.
When I'm not teaching at Central Elementary, I enjoy spending time with my family. Life is exciting with church and sports events.
Your children are important to me, and I look forward to sharing my love of music with them throughout this school year.
