Christine Salminen, Ed.S., NBCT
Mrs. Christine Salminen brings over 14 years of successful teaching to Gulfport School District, teaching 9th Grade Honors English for the last nine years at Gulfport High School. As an instructional leader, she held the positions of ACT Team Lead Teacher for eight years and 9th Grade Team Leader for seven years, as well as served as a mentor to new and novice teachers.
Mrs. Salminen earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology in 2007 and her Master of Education Degree in 2008 from William Carey University. In 2013, Mrs. Salminen attained National Board Certification in Early/Adolescence/English Language Arts. In August 2021, she will earn her Specialist in Education Degree in Educational Leadership from William Carey University. During her tenure at Gulfport High School, she received the honors of yearbook dedication in 2018 and Teacher of the Year in 2019, as well as recognition at the annual Superintendent's Honor Roll Banquet, a selection made by students every year. She firmly believes the Gulfport School District's vision that rigor, relevance, and relationships are essential to empowering teachers and helping students achieve academic success. This year is Mrs. Salminen's second year as an instructional leader at Bayou View Elementary School.
Mrs. Salminen is married to Lt. Colonel Scot Salminen, a C-130 pilot in the Air Force Reserve stationed at Keesler Air Force Base. He is dedicated to training and mentoring younger pilots and sharing his love of flying with anyone who wants to learn. They have four amazing, fun-loving sons, ranging in ages from 25 to 12.
