About Our Programs

  •

Gulfport School District has alternative education programs designed to combat the dropout rate. Students in alternative education programs in the Gulfport School District are serviced at The Learning Center.

The Learning Center of the Gulfport School District is a safety net school for academic and behavior purposes. Alternative behavior students from grades 4-12 may be assigned to The Learning Center for an initial 45-day placement. Eighth grade alternative academic students may be assigned to The Learning Center for an entire school year.  Students must be referred by their Gulfport School District home school for placement at The Learning Center for the Safety Net program, The Blue School program as well as the behavior program.

Students may participate in the Blue School program if they meet the following:
    •   have a referral from their guidance counselor
    •   have parental permission
All referrals to The Blue School begin at the student's Gulfport School District home school with parent meetings.
