Hi! My name is Mrs. Jeannine Edwards, and I will be your child's 8th grade science teacher this 2022-2023 school year.I am truly excited and look forward to guiding your child through 8th grade here at Gulfport Central Middle School. Now let me tell  you a little about me. I am married to a wonderful man,Troy Edwards,  who is more than my husband, but my best friend.Troy and I have been married for almost nine years. I have two daughters, Alexia Finley and Aaliyah Finley, who are both grown, independent women and successfully completed their first two years of college.Most importantly in my life,  I am a grandmother (Nanna) to Alena Finley. God has truly blessed me. Family is not just important, but family is everything.

I love to learn. I became a teacher because I wanted to give back to the community, and to change the lives of students. I want to make a difference in the lives of children. I am driven by a strong desire to help others, so teaching and inspiring others to be a lifelong learner is my contribution.I have worked in several areas of social work since 2008 and my compassion for children and their families influenced me to become an educator. Therefore,I have the ability to teach life lessons as well as core subjects. In 1992, I graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, Miss. In 2006, I accomplished my bachelors degree in psychology & minor in biology at William Carey College (now university). Furthermore, I went to graduate school and I accomplished my masters in socialwork from USM in Hattiesburg, Miss in 2008. I am currently pursuing a masters in education at William Carey University. I became a licensed teacher in November 2021. I am a strong believer in education. Education is the key to success. My mission as a teacher is to help each child discover the joy of learning , and to help each child develop a strong belief in his or her own ability to achieve. I believe that to continue to have a successful school year with open communication between parents and teachers is necessary and always encouraged.
