    What is the Seal of Biliteracy?

    A credential on the student transcript wherein literacy has been demonstrated in English and one other language.

    Silver: Functional Fluency, Intermediate

    Gold: Working Fluency, Advanced

    Who Can Obtain the Seal of Bilteracy?  

    Anyone who is interested and dedicated to pursue this distinction.

    Why Is This Important? 

    1. Greater matriculation into higher level language courses
    2. Demonstrates the value of culture, heritage languages and achievement
    3. Creation of opportunities postsecondary-- a competitive advantage

    What Are the Qualifications? 

    Below are the assessments currently offered within the Gulfport School Distrcit which are accepted for the Seal of Bilitercy.  For a full listing of acceptable assessments, please see the MDE Seal of Biliteracy Guidelines.
