PAOLA RUIZ SOTO

 Elementary Spanish

La Sra. Paola Ruiz Soto se desempeñará como maestra de inmersión en español de primaria en el distrito escolar de Gulfport. Es de Puerto Rico pero se mudó a Mississippi en 2016. Recibió su licenciatura de la Universidad de Puerto Rico con especialización en Filosofía con una especialización en francés. En Mississippi, obtuvo su maestría en Enseñanza de Idiomas con énfasis en español y TESOL de la Universidad del Sur de Mississippi. Además de su pasión por la enseñanza y los idiomas, a la Sra. Ruiz le gusta leer, cantar, ver películas y tomar una buena taza de café.

Mrs. Paola Ruiz Soto will serve as the Elementary Spanish Immersion Teacher in the Gulfport School District. She is from Puerto Rico but moved to Mississippi in 2016. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Puerto Rico majoring in Philosophy with a minor in French. In Mississippi, she earned her master's degree in the Teaching of Languages with emphases in Spanish and TESOL from the University of Southern Mississippi. Besides her passion for teaching and languages, Mrs. Ruiz enjoys reading, singing, watching movies, and having a good cup of coffee! 

LUCY SOLANO

 Bayou View Middle School Spanish

La Sra. Lucy Solano es profesora de español en Bayou View Middle School. Ella es de Colombia, Sudamérica y le encanta enseñar español y sobre la cultura hispana. Ha enseñado en todos los niveles durante más de 30 años, obteniendo el título de Maestra del año en su escuela y distrito anteriores. La Sra. Solano también es intérprete judicial y traductora autónoma. Actualmente se desempeña en los Comités Asesores del MDE para Idiomas del Mundo y el Sello de Alfabetización Bilingüe, así como presidenta de la Sección Primaria / Secundaria de la Asociación de Idiomas Extranjeros de Mississippi. Le gusta escuchar música, cantar, bailar y jugar juegos educativos en su clase. Es una gran fanática de Disney, especialmente del ratón Miguelito. 

Ms Lucy Solano is the Spanish teacher at Bayou View Middle School. She is from Colombia, South-America and loves teaching Spanish and about the Hispanic culture. She has taught all levels for over 30 years, earning the Teacher of the Year title at her previous school and district. Ms Solano is also a court interpreter as well as a freelance translator. She currently serves in the MDE Advisory Committees for World Languages and the Seal of Biliteracy as well as a President of the Elementary/Secondary Section of the Mississippi Foreign Languages Association. She enjoys listening to music, singing, dancing, and playing educational games in her class. She is a big fan of Disney, especially Mickey Mouse. 

MARITZA BRYANT

Gulfport Central Middle School 

La Sra. Maritza Bonilla Bryant servirá como maestra de español en la Escuela Secundaria Central de Gulfport. Ella es de Honduras, donde se graduó como maestra de escuela primaria y donde enseño en una escuela bilingüe americana por más de ocho años. Ella recibió su licenciatura en español y su maestría en la Enseñanza de Lenguas con énfasis en español y TESOL en la universidad del Sur de Mississippi. Ella ha trabajado como una maestra de lenguaje en diferentes distritos del estado y también como una instructora de español en la Universidad Estatal de Louisiana. Ella vivió en Gulfport en el pasado y su deseo es de regresar. Por lo tanto, ella esta emocionada por empezar a trabajar enseñando su lengua nativa en el Distrito de Gulfport. 

Mrs. Maritza Bonilla Bryant will serve as the Spanish teacher at Gulfport Central Middle School. She is from Honduras, where she graduated as an elementary teacher and taught in an American Bilingual school for over eight years.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and her Master’s degree in Teaching Languages with an emphasis in Spanish and TESOL from the University of Southern Mississippi. She has worked as a language teacher at different school districts in the state and as a Spanish instructor at Louisiana State University. She previously lived in Gulfport, and her desire was to return. Therefore, she is excited to begin teaching her native language at the Gulfport School District.

我叫杨琳（蒂芙尼）龚。我在中国出生和长大。我从五岁开始学英语。我于 2014 年作为外国学生来到各州，毕业于威廉凯瑞大学 2016 级，获得中等教育硕士学位。我从研究生开始就一直在教中文。我于 2018 年在格尔夫波特学区开始了我的职业生涯。我热爱我的工作，珍惜与学生在一起的每一刻。我们每天都在学习文化和语言。我希望我的学生在版本和理解中成长，无论我们学习什么，无论我们来自哪里，无论我们是谁——我们应该始终选择尊重他人，始终愿意在这个国际团队中交流和倾听.

My name is Yanglin (Tiffany) Gong. I was born and raised in China. I learned English since I was five. I came to states 2014 as a foreign student and graduated from William Carey university 2016 class with a Masters degree in secondary education. I have been teaching Chinese since I was in graduate school. I started my career with theGulfport School District in 2018. I love my job and cherish every moment with my students.  Daily we learn about culture and language. I hope my student will grow up with version and understanding that no matter what we learn, no matter where we from, no matter who we are-- we should always chose to respect others and always be willing to communicate and listen in this international team.

Recibí mi Licenciatura en los derechos de University of Maryland University College en 2008.  Tambien recibí un certificado en español laboral.  Recibí mi Licenciatura de profesora por el Alternate Route Program's Teach Mississippi Institute de la Universidad de Mississippi en 2013.  Enseño niveles 1-4 de español , lengua y cultura española AP (avanzada), y literatura y cultura española AP (avanzada).  Estoy obteniendo mi mastería de enseñar español en la universidad de Southern Mississippi.  Estoy encargada de La Sociadad Honoraria Hispánica.

I graduated from the University of Maryland University College in 2008, earning a BS in Legal Studies.  While at UMUC, I also earned a certificate in Workplace Spanish. I became a teacher through the Alternate Route Program's Teach Mississippi Institute at Ole Miss in 2013.  I am currently working on my MATL (Masters of Arts in Teaching Languages-Spanish) at the University of Southern Mississippi.  I teach Spanish levels 1-4, AP Spanish Language & Culture, and AP Spanish Literature & Culture.  I am the sponsor of Los Almirantes, the Gulfport High Chapter of  National Hispanic Honor Society.
