  • Welcome Letter for 2021/22 School Year

    The following information provides you with an overview of Gulfport High School’s DECA program.  It highlights the purpose of DECA and what you can expect as a DECA member.  Students in grades 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades are eligible for membership and leadership positions.

    Chapter Membership - DECA makes a positive difference in students’ lives by developing their potential for citizenship, leadership, teamwork, personal growth, and career success. The experience provides opportunities at the local, district, region, state, national, and international levels.

    Registration deadline is September 17th, 2021.

    Students benefit from CTSO (career and technical student organizations) experiences that do the following:

    • Make school-to-career connections for students;
    • Develop students’ career and leadership skills;
    • Prepare students to be responsible citizens; and
    • Earn student’s recognition and build their self-confidence.

    Leadership - I am looking to have a strong student officer team.  Students who wish to apply, please first consider if DECA is the student organization you want to lead.  You are not eligible for a DECA officer role if you are an officer of any other student organization at Gulfport High. The only leadership position that requires a minimum one-year DECA membership is the DECA President role.  All other positions are open to anyone wanting to be involved in DECA in a leadership capacity.  This is a “no experience necessary” approach.  It’s a learning opportunity!  As a DECA officer, you will represent Gulfport High School, Gulfport DECA, and Mississippi DECA. Your position will enable you to play an active role in continuing the legacy of GHS DECA.

    I am looking forward to seeing your application if you want to pursue this opportunity.  Please contact me with any questions you may have!  Also, DECA’s website address is https://www.deca.org/high-school-programs/high-school-competitive-events/
