Ms. Shannon Bell

Ms. Shannon Bell is the Dance Class teacher at Bayou View Middle School. Originally from Pearl, Mississippi, she began taking dance classes at the age of 3, and has studied the dance styles of ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, and contemporary ever since. During her elementary and high school years, Ms. Bell regularly competed and placed in dance competitions throughout the Southeast. She served as an assistant dance teacher at the Applause Dance Factory under the guidance of Mr. Blake Coheley, the current President of Dance Teachers United. She currently takes classes and performs with Ballet Theatre School in Gulfport.

Ms. Bell received her Bachelor of Music Education and Masters of Music Education degrees from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. While at Delta State, she was a member of the Delta Belles dance team, as well as the DSU Wind Ensemble, Clarinet Choir, Jazz Band, and was a featured performer in the Music Department Honors Recital.

This will be Ms. Bell's 23rd year of teaching in Mississippi. Over the years, she has taught band, colorguard, winterguard, and dance classes throughout Mississippi. She resides in the Bayou View community with her daughters, Mackenzie Newman and Audrey Bell, and is the proud mom of a Vanderbilt Commodore (her son, Ryan Newman). Ms. Bell is very excited to have the opportunity to teach dance classes at BVMS!
