Dear Families of 28^th Street Elementary School:

            Hopefully you have noticed the progress of construction on the new 28^th Street Elementary School site.  The anticipated completion date for the new school is February of 2010.

             Lea Bellon has been named Principal of 28^th Street Elementary School.  As a life long resident of Gulfport, Mississippi and a Gulfport High School graduate, Mrs. Bellon began her teaching career at West Elementary School where she taught Kindergarten, Third Grade and Fourth Grade.  She was named Assistant Principal of Pass Road Elementary School in 2002 and is currently the Academy Administrator for the Nathan Walker Academy at Bayou View Middle School. 

  The Gulfport School District will re-establish 28^th Street Elementary School for the 2009-2010 school term.  As students return to school in August of 2009 they will continue to attend their current elementary schools, Central Elementary, Gaston Point Elementary, or West Elementary.  At these sites, students will be assigned to a 28^th Street Elementary School teacher.  Upon completion of the new facility students will move with their teacher to the new school. 

            The teaching staff for 28^th Street Elementary School will be as follows:

    There will be a parent meeting held in late July or early August to introduce families to the new principal and new staff and explain how 28^th Street Elementary School will operate.
