First you will be assigned to a team of
three students. You will then be handed a packet that will help you
through your WebQuest. All information that you gather can be collected
in your packet. Each member of the team will be assigned the role of a
researcher, a recorder, or a presenter. You are expected to participate
in all areas of the WebQuest, but you will take responsibility for the
outcome of the job that you have chosen.
There are four websites that you will visit as you
perform the eight activities of the WebQuest. You will be given two
class periods to gather the information you will need to complete your final
project. The websites and activities are provided below. You may
visit them in this order or you may skip around. Just be sure to
complete all four websites and all eight activities!

Read the information about the Pangaea Theory.
Notice the picture of the continents as they move and separate.
Next, in the box on the left side, click the words “Earth Structure”.
Read about the earth structure.
Draw and label the three main parts of the earth
structure.
Next, click on the “puzzle piece” with the arrow at the bottom of the screen.
Using
the ”Earth Map”, complete the Naming the Plates Activity sheet in your
packet.

Read the information on “Mountain Maker, Earth Shaker”.
Take a hard-boiled egg from the table in the front of the
room.
Gently crack the shell to form plates in the eggshell.
Describe how this experiment is like the Earth and plate
tectonics.
Next, click on Plate Tectonics Activity opposite the green
arrow.
Follow the directions to learn how plate tectonics affect
the earth.
Be sure to read the explanation of the four different
types of boundaries.
Close the window when you are through.

Read information about Alfred Wegener and his Theory of
Continental Drift.
Under "Fossil Evidence" , click the
"Jurassic Period".
Click on the "drift apart" link in the first
paragraph.
Then, click on the "separation of the
continents" link to see the progress during the middle of the Jurassic
Period.
Note difference between the two maps.
Read the information about the animals of the Jurassic
Period.
Click on the "Jurassic animal printouts" link at
the bottom of the page.
Choose a dinosaur; print and color the dinosaur picture.

Read the introduction.
Click on the three links below the introduction.
Read each section and return to the Introduction page.
Click on the "Interactive Map" link on the right
side of the page.
Find each continent on the Earth map to complete the game.
Return to the Introduction page.
Click on the link for "Test Your Knowledge".
Answer the questions to complete the quiz.
Congratulations!
You now have all the information you need to carry out your Final Project!
