Principal

Welcome to Central Elementary School, home of the Pirates! My name is Denise Bush and this will be my first year as principal at Central Elementary. Over the past twelve years, I have gained a variety of educational experiences such as teaching grades K, 1, and 3, serving as a high school guidance counselor, psychometrist, elementary lead teacher, elementary assistant principal, and now elementary principal. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, a Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology from William Carey University, a Specialist of Education Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Educational Leadership, and am currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. My husband of 10 years, Averie Bush, is also an administrator. He serves as principal of North Gulfport 8th Grade School in the Harrison County School District. We have two beautiful daughters, Melanie Elise (age 3), and Morgan Elizabeth (age 2).
I strongly believe in the Gulfport School District’s Motto: “Every Decision…Every Time…What is Best for Children?” Students need to be encouraged, uplifted, pushed, and supported. They need to know that they are loved and cared for and most importantly that they can do whatever they put their minds to. One of my favorite quotes from W. Clement Stone is “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”
We, the faculty and staff of Central Elementary School, are looking forward to the opportunity of inspiring each student to become a problem solver, lifelong learner, and productive member of society.
Sincerely,
L. Denise Bush
