Parenting Classes
Central Elementary offers FREE parenting classes every Thursday afternoon from 4:00 to 5:00pm in our parent resource room.
September 8 – Internet resource navigation: Setting up e-mail accounts, communicating with teachers through e-mail, and navigating through district and school webpages.
September 15 – Managing your child’s behavior/ Bullying – what do you do if your child is a victim? What do you do if your child is the bully?
September 29 – Helping your child with homework/ Becoming involved with your child’s education/ Finding quality time/ Remediation, enrichment, and other free educational websites designed for students/ Accelerated Reader, Accelerated Math – what are they?
October 6 – Effective ways to communicate with teachers/ How and when to schedule a conference/ Questions to ask during conferences/Reading Fair requirements.
October 13 – (Curriculum night) Review of 2nd term standards/objectives for each grade level –what will my child learn over the next 9 weeks? (1 teacher per grade level will host this in their classroom using Promethean)
October 20 – Understanding report card grades – what do I do now? Teachable moments in the car, at home, in the grocery store, etc/ Math ideas using sales papers

November 3 – CAFÉ Training
November 10 - Easy to make and play dice and card games to enhance basic math skills.
December 1 – Banking (ways to manage money and meet living expenses)
December 8 – Mom and daughter arts and crafts
December 15 – Father and son arts and crafts and Educational activities to do with your child over Christmas Holidays
January 12 - Health Eating/ Nutritional Tips
January 19– How to create a resume/ How to dress and prepare for an interview
April 19 - Banking (ways to manage money and meet living expenses)
