Dr. Payne has been in the education field since 1989.  She graduated with her elementary education degree in 1993 and has continued her education over the years.  In 2006, Dr. Payne graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.   

Dr. Payne began her teaching career in Harrison County School District teaching first and fifth grades for eight years.  In 2000 she transferred to the Gulfport School District.  She taught first  and fourth grades at Central Elementary, was assistant principal at Anniston Avenue Elementary until she was named principal effective July, 2007

Dr. Payne is married to Ken Payne, a Gulfport fireman.  They are the proud parents of Cooper Payne.
