The students of
Gulfport Central Middle School participated in an after-testing
student walk on Friday, March 7, 2008. Students and teachers
walked at Milner Stadium where refreshments were served. |

On February 20, 2008, the 7th
Grade students at Bayou View Middle School were treated to a free
adolescent health fair! The fair was sponsored by Memorial Hospital
at Gulfport and the Gulfport School District. The health fair
included height, weight, vision, hearing, peak flow, body mass
index, body fat analysis, scoliosis screening, flexibility,
hip-to-waist ratio, total cholesterol, blood sugar, and dental
screening. Parents received a written report of all the screening
results, and the meanings.

Gulfport
Central Middle School students and faculty participated in a week of
wellness. Students were introduced to new dance moves to show dance
can be exercise by Javier and the Dance Studio. Students and staff
pledged to eat healthy during the week and pledged to eat more
fruits and vegetables and even eliminated fried foods for a day. The
students also wrote about healthy lifestyles and pledged to exercise
throughout the week. As a culminating activity, the students
participated in a wellness walk at Milner Stadium with music
provided by JZ94.5.

Road Elementary School is restarting the After School
Walking/Running Club on Tuesday April 22nd at the GHS track.
The time is 4:00pm until you are sweating profusely! The
entire District is invited to come out and get fit while having fun
and socializing. We hope to see many
parents/students/employees from the Gulfport School District there
to join us!
