Mixed
Practice Tests
The Department of Instructional Programs, Assessment, and Professional
Development has been working very hard to ensure that students in the
Gulfport School District are afforded every opportunity to be given access
to a rigorous and challenging curriculum. We monitor student progress on
district and state required skills using the district’s formative mixed
practice testing program every three weeks. Teachers use test data to make
decisions about instruction that include providing students with extended
learning opportunities ranging from remediation to enrichment.
The district’s assessment program also serves another purpose; it provides
second through eighth grade students with uniform test-taking experience.
Each assessment is formulated to resemble the MCT tests that are
administered each spring by the Mississippi Department of Education. We
anticipate that the added test-taking practice will help students become
more comfortable with standardized testing language and processes. Thanks
to the efforts of teachers and administrators, this effort is proving to be
of great benefit to our students. If you have questions concerning district
assessments, please contact our office.
