EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Do you have a skill, talent, hobby or interest you would like to share with the community? Then Community Education wants you!

If you have a desire to supplement your existing income with a fulfilling part-time position, you may be interested in teaching for Community Ed.  Community Education offers two sessions each year (Spring and Fall). We are very interested in developing long-term relationships with successful instructors who wish to share their special knowledge with the public.

Community Education is seeking qualified instructors in all interest areas. Specifically, we need instructors for the following classes:

QuickBooks Pro
Yoga

Submit a course proposal to the Community Education office by email or fax to our office at 228.896.7328. The Community Education Director will contact you after reviewing your proposal. Additional documentation will be needed from instructors with accepted proposals.

If you are proposing a craft or hands-on class, be prepared to bring a sample to the interview. If it is not practical to bring a sample, then please bring pictures.

GUIDELINES

Please review these guidelines before submitting a course proposal:

  • Review our current course schedule to see if your proposed class is already being offered.  Our schedule of classes can be found here.  (coming soon)
  • Classes should be educational in nature while maintaining an ethical and impartial learning environment.
  • We request that classes you teach for Community Education are not taught elsewhere on the Gulf Coast.  Competing against yourself can lead to low enrollments resulting in cancelled classes and disappointed students.
  • Community Education is a self-supporting department within the Gulfport School District. The price we charge for the class covers both your salary as well as an overhead charge for Community Education.
  • Classes cannot be designed to sell or recommend products from your business or promote your consulting services.
  • Course proposals should be detailed: please indicate what you will cover each night of class, how many hours/nights needed, class objective and what is the desired outcome for the student (what information they will learn, what project they would complete, etc).
  • Deadline for submitting proposals is June 1, 2010.
