Gulfport School District is no longer offering GED testing or GED classes. However, evening classes will be held at our location (2507 21st Ave.) in Gulfport. These classes are offered through MGCCC.

What is the GED? 

GED= General Educational Development
The GED diploma is recognized by most businesses, schools, government agencies, and the military.

Did you know...

* More than 860,000 adults worldwide take the GED Tests each year?

* More than 90 percent of U.S. employers consider GED graduates the same as traditional high school graduates in regard to hiring, salary, and opportunity for advancement? (Society for Human Resource Management: 2002)

* Ninety-seven percent of colleges and universities accept the GED diploma as equivalent to a traditional high school diploma. (College Board: 2001)

* Only 6 out of 10 graduating seniors would pass this series of GED Tests.

What does the GED Test consist of?
The test consist of five parts: Math, Language Arts/Writing, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts/Reading. Each of the five tests uses a multiple-choice question format. In addition, every GED candidate must also satisfactorily complete a timed essay on an assigned topic in order to pass the GED Tests.

What is a passing score?
You must score at least a 410 on each section, with an overall average of 450.
