Medical Technology II


This course introduces the student to careers available in the health field, basic anatomy and physiology, and basic patient care skills.  Upon completion of this first year introductory course, the student will be trained in AHA CPR and first aid. The student will be better able to make an informed choice of a health occupation that he/she wants to pursue.  Students will participate in shadowing experiences in selected health care facilities as a group. This course is taught for one year, and it earns 2 Carnegie units.  This course counts as a lab-based science credit and is a weighted class. This course requires a minimum of 50 hours of clinical-type experience.
 

Medical Technology I


The emphasis of the second year is primarily to expose students to advanced skills in the various health occupations and the basic health care sciences.  Students will participate in shadowing experiences in selected health care facilities on an individual basis. Upon completion of the second year advanced course, the student will be trained to work a an entry level assistant in various health occupations and will be certified in AHA CPR at the health care provider level. This course is taught for one year, and it earns 2 Carnegie units.  The course counts as a lab-based science credit and is a weighted class. This course requires a minimum of 50 hours of clinical-type experience.
