David Allen is the assistant principal of Bayou View Elementary in the Gulfport School District, where he has also served as district School-To-Careers coordinator and director of the Academy of Travel & Tourism at Gulfport High School.  He holds the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Mississippi State University, and the Master of Education degree in administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.   

Prior to his arrival in Gulfport, Allen served as a band director in the public schools and at the community college level.  He was director of bands at D’Iberville High School and D’Iberville Middle School, assistant band director at Ocean Springs High School, and spent four years as assistant band director at MS Gulf Coast Community College.  While at MGCCC and Ocean Springs, he served as staff piano accompanist for the choral programs and has toured with the OSHS Choir in Austria, Germany, and Italy.  Allen is still active in the church music and civic chorale worlds.  He is the former Rosary Rally Choir director for the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi, and he currently serves as organist at three churches:  St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Orange Grove, and St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ocean Springs.  He is assistant director and accompanist for the Ocean Springs Civic Chorale, which recently completed a summer 2006 tour of Italy, and performed in masses at St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice St. Peter’s Basilica (The Vatican) in Rome.
